English Country Garden Quilt Along 2021 - English Paper Piecing, Applique and Quilt as you go pattern

How many kinds of pretty flowers grow...

in an English Country Garden?

The English Country Garden quilt is an original English Paper Pieced (EPP) quilt designed by Alison Stothard exclusively for Hexadoodle Quilts.

It features 9 different floral quilt blocks inspired by the plants and flowers growing in Alison's garden in the Heart of the English countryside and includes favourites such as Lupins, Pansies, Marigolds, Poppies and Foxgloves.

The English Country Garden quilt is the new quilt-along for Hexadoodle Quilts.

Join me in February 2021 for 10 months of stitching, learning and growing together.  Over 9 months, we will make a new flower block per month with the final month reserved at the end for finishing off our quilts.

We'll learn how to baste, sew and combine a variety of English paper piecing EPP shapes including hexagons, pentagons, jewels and hexie petals to create unique blooms for your very own English Country Garden quilt.

We'll explore hand and machine appliqué techniques including fusible appliqué, back basting and more!

As our floral quilts blocks bloom and grow, we'll use the Quilt as You Go technique to ensure that we have a finished garden quilt by the end of the year.

Who is the Country Garden Quilt along for?

This quilt along is for everyone!

If you have never tried English paper piecing before, it is the perfect beginner quilt to try out a variety of the shapes available for EPP patchwork and quilting without committing to a seemingly never-ending project.

By combining the English paper piecing technique with hand (or machine) applique, you will very quickly see your progress as your flower quilt blooms and grows before your eyes!

You'll be learning about EPP, applique and quilt as you go.

With these skills in your patchwork and quilting tool kit you'll have the confidence to tackle many more quilt projects in future.

For the more seasoned EPP'er, this quilt along will provide you with an opportunity to take a break from your latest EPP masterpiece before it starts to feel like a Monsterpiece

Small pockets of time spent away from your long term project, basting, appliqueing and the quilting your flower blocks will provide you with just the creativity boost you need to rekindle your sew-jo!
